This boy is Derek (AKA Tromora Gael) and he is 5 years old and 28 inches to the shoulder. Derek’s eyes looked sore when he came into rescue. The vet thinks this has been caused by an injury and it’s caused some ulceration. However, the redness is lessening daily with eye drops and his vision doesn’t seem to be impaired. Derek’s currently doing brilliantly in a foster home with a male labrador. He is calm and relaxed in the home environment and is house trained. He is fine being left for up to 4 hours a day, so should fit perfectly into a working home, as long as he has another dog for company.
EXTRA INFO FROM DEREK’S HILLCREST “BUDDY” – SIOBHAN:
Derek is an affectionate boy, full of life and happy to learn new tricks especially when treats are involved!
He walks well on a lead and has responded positively to close lead training with treats. He has also been learning ‘up’ and ‘off’ to teach him to get on and off the furniture and in and out of the car. He loves his treats! ‘Touch’ is a favourite game and he will bound over even when out and about – a great start to recall training. Derek is a gentle soul who is happy to lie down next to you and happy just to be with you.
He will melt your heart.
