We have been waiting for this moment for a long time. Two years and seven months, to be precise! Appeals were shared and re-shared, here and on many other pages, and we were all searching, asking, and keeping our fingers crossed. You have been following his journey, and we are absolutely delighted to share this much needed happy news:
Thor has been adopted! He is now enjoying life in his forever home in Conwy, with lovely Adam Hughes.
Thor arrived at our Rehoming Centre at Hillcrest at the end of May 2018 and we expected that he would be swept away in no time. Such a handsome, happy lad who adores people. Polite, gentle, loving, and affectionate. A perfect companion.
He quickly won hearts of all our staff members and volunteers. And yet Thor became a long-termer. He found it difficult to manage his reactions around other breeds, especially smaller dogs. This, combined with his size and strength, meant that Thor needed someone with good experience of the breed and somewhere where he would be unlikely to encounter his triggers regularly. But we knew that somewhere out there there was a home for Thor.
The tables were turned when wonderful Sarah-Jane Franks offered to foster Thor.
At the beginning of June 2020, Thor travelled to his foster home in Portsmouth where he settled seamlessly into foster life with Sarah and Mark. Sarah works from home, so Thor acted as her “secretary, mentor and a general excuse for an extra coffee (cuddle) break”. Sarah and Mark continued to work with Thor. We cannot thank them enough for all they have done for Thor, for their love and dedication, and for continuing their support for Thor – they are now in a close touch with Thor’s adopters and ready to help and share their experience.
We would like to say thank you so very much to Thor’s adoptive family for coming forward and giving him a loving forever home. We wish them and Thor a wonderful life together and have no doubt that they will enjoy Thor – he is a very special boy.
Last but not least, thank you so much to
Burns Pet Nutrition
for providing free and nutritious food for our Thor while he was in our care.
